About GDW

At GDW we always strive to meet our customers expectations. We find a lot of clients are faced with added costs and time implications from dealing with multiple contractors to achieve one deliverable so our main goal on company commencement was to remove the multiple interactions and provide a one stop service saving them time, cost, management and ease of future services

GDW Engineering added a timely and necessary injection into our project providing turn key services ranging from project management down to site supervision. They offer a cost effective solution whilst at the same time completing any deliverable at the highest quality maintaining full compliance to the site specifications and Australian Standards. I would not hesitate to engage GDW again and look forward to working with the company at the next opportunity.

Central West NSW Pump Station

After a critical pump failure an Emergency situation developed where the town’s water supply was compromised. Diesel generator sets were put in place at considerable cost to council to supply that water as an interim measure. The designated flow rate required to get water to the town from the water supply was determined to be 105 litres a second. GDW Engineering was approached by JAC pumps to jointly execute a design and construct package to provide a permanent solution to fix this issue as a matter of urgency

Scope: The solution was to design and construct two of pontoon stations each housing two of 250KW submersible pumps. GDW engineering had to completely overhaul the existing infrastructure in the switch room and provide the following deliverables electrically for the project:

  • Initiate an alteration of connection application with the supply authority co-ordinating all outages, new load application and stakeholder management of the Authority
  • Participate in a safety in design risk assessment
  • Co-ordinate with client engineers
  • Complete an arc flash and load flow study
  • Complete a Harmonic Study
  • Comply with the NSW S&I rules and essential requirements
  • Complete all schematics, SLD’s, termination and loop drawings
  • Implement a functional description by the mechaincal contractor
  • Cable sizing reports
  • Complete all cable schedules and equipment lists
  • Procure long lead items ensuring compliance to the standards
  • Design, construct and supply a new Motor Control Centre 5 metres long
  • Supply of in bye harmonic filters
  • Supply of 280KW VFD’s
  • Supply of DVDT filters
  • Supply of 280KW local control stations
  • Supply and install of all cable ladders and supports
  • Supply and install of all cabling
  • Termination of all cabling
